* Maintenance, development, and improvement of our trail system
* Cooperative promotion between all its users
* Exploration of sensitivities through organized trail activities.
When were we formed?
As an organization, the Trail Blazers was formed in late 1992. Our first major activity as a group was to participate in the California Trail Days by clearing and cutting a trail on the Hummingbird Creek property; property which had been recently acquired by The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District. What do we do?
The Trail Blazers was formed to:
* Retain and enhance the open spaces
* Cut new trails
* Maintain existing trails
* Provide outdoor education for children as well as adults
* Create regular hikes
Our regularly scheduled activities include:
* Tuesday evening beginner's hike
* Thursday evening hike
* Sunday evening hike
* Trail Maintenance usually every 3rd Saturday of the month (Check Schedule)
* Monthly meeting every 3rd Wednesday of the month
* Monthly newsletter sent to all members, which includes our scheduled activities
The major goal is to be of service to our community and leave something beautiful for all generations to enjoy.
Now that you know who we are and what we do -- would you like to join us? We are totally committed to expending our energies toward a clean, healthy outdoor environment. Since this is an ongoing task, we need growth in our numbers. For more information, or to receive an introductory copy of our monthly newsletter, please call us at 805-584-4440.
Sip & Switch in Simi Valley
Clothes swap in Simi Valley? It' got to be the Sip & Switch! This clothes swap party is a hot new way to spruce up your wardrobe for both Men and Women. Curious? Here's how it works: You go through your closet and pull out gently used or new clothing that has been hanging around for a while (we all have at least a few of those!) and bring them to the Sip & Switch.
Simi Valley Sip & Switch fashion stylists will go through what you bring and take the items that are suitable for our fabulous event. You will receive our Special Sip & Switch Swap Card with the number of items that were surrendered. Next comes the fun part! You'll enter our gorgeous boutique shopping area and browse through hundreds of pieces from fashionable name brand designers or super cute clothing and select the same number of items that you turned in!
It's the clothes switch in Simi Valley known as Sip & Switch and if that isn't exciting enough, you'll also enjoy complimentary Hors d' oeuvres and a special beverage by our featured event sponsor. What a great way to recycle clothing in a legendary location. Only at The Vineyards in Simi Valley.

Forum with James Q Wilson TODAY
Did the Stimulus Bill stimulate the economy? Once the federal law was implemented in February of 2009, which parts helped the economy and which parts did not? These are just a few of the topics which James Q. Wilson, the Ronald Reagan Professor of Public Policy at Pepperdine, will explore when he delivers the Reagan Forum at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. This lecture is free to attend; however, reservations are required. Register by calling the Reagan Foundation at 805-522-2977 or online at www.reaganfoundation.org/cpa

Also join us in welcoming Michael Reagan who will accept an award on behalf of his father, our late great President Ronald Reagan as we prepare to celebrate his 100th birthday. We also will be honoring Congressman Elton Gallegly and his wife Janice.
This will be the best party all year long. The tickets are $60 for one or $100 per couple (hint: save yourselves $20 by joining hands with someone else). We expect to have over 3000 people at our first event, so get your reservations early.

What is Labor Day?
Labor Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September. The first Labor Day in the United States was observed on September 5, 1882 in New York City, by the Central Labor Union of New York, the nation's first integrated major trade union. It became a federal holiday in 1894, when, following the deaths of a number of works at the hands of the U.S. Military and U.S. Marshals during the Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland put reconciliation with the labor movement as a top political priority. Fearing further conflict, legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was rushed through Congress unanimously and signed into law a mere six days after the end of the strike. The September date originally chosen by the CLU of NY observed by many of the nation's trade unions for the past several years was selected rather than the more widespread International Workers' Day because Cleveland was concerned that observance of the latter would stir up negative emotions linked to the Haymarket Affair, for which it had been observed to commemorate.
Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer. The holiday is often regarded as a day or rest and parties. In U.S. Sports, Labor Day marks the beginning of the NFL and college football seasons.
